Does the World Know You?

“Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

1 John 3:1

This verse came up on our last episode on the podcast and it stood out enough to me that I wanted to write a quick article/devotional.

My immediate thought was “can I say that for myself”?

We have heard the saying we are in this world but not of this world. 1 John 2:15 states, “Do not love the world or the things of this world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Constantly we see the need to be set apart from the world and to look drastically different than un-believers, but do we?

Do our friends and co-workers know that we are Christian’s because we say it, or because we live it?

Brothers and sisters, everything that we are should be wrapped up in the totality of who He is. Everything that we portray and say outwardly should be a reflection of everything we know and believe internally. If we truly do that, there is no way we look like world.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you for your Son and thank you for the promise that when we put our faith in Him, we have life everlasting. Lord, thank you for the reminder that we are called to be set apart from the world, and to look different than those around us. May you build in us a heart that not only hears it, and reads it, but puts it into practice. In Jesus name, Amen.
