True Peace

06APR24

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let no your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27

1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:1

We live in a crazy world today. The political climate is sometimes unbearable to watch, inflation is through the roof, and all sound morals have seemed to abandon society. When living in a time like this, one could wonder how it is possible to have peace of mind.

As of a few years ago, 1 in 4 Americans over the age of 18 were prescribed medication for mental health (Vinzant, 2022). Peace of mind is something that is lacking in our country and our world. Anxiety and depression run rampant. Some of this is because our pharmaceutical industry produces medicine that causes worse symptoms and leads to follow on medication, and some is because people are looking for hope in the wrong places. We live an a society that promotes everything that gives you more stress and nothing that gives your soul meaning and your mind peace. As the world continues to capitalize financially off of mental conditions that it’s society created, we must realize that the things of this world don’t bring peace.

We have peace when we have been justified by faith. We have peace when we are in Christ. This does not mean worldly troubles will not happen, but the way in which you view worldly stressors drastically changes when your eternal destiny is secure.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the peace that only you can provide. Thank you for a still mind and a state of peace when faced with the troubles of this temporary world. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
