27MAR24

14 Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said , “What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.
Continuing our Holy Week devotional, we will look at the Judas story. At this point in the week he had decided he was going to betray Jesus and was looking for an opportunity. As we will see later in the week, after the first supper, Judas goes through with his plan to turn over Jesus to the chief priests.
The beauty of the Judas story does not come through his decision, or his betrayal, but it comes through the love of Jesus.
Isn’t it amazing that Jesus still loved him?
Jesus still washed his feet and let him partake in the Last Supper even though he knew he would betray him.
Aren’t we more like Judas than we would like to admit?
We betray Jesus each day. We may not turn him over or speak blasphemy, but we fall short and betray him with our actions every day. We stumble, we ask for repentance, and we grow. But through it all he loves us.
Jesus did not come for the righteous, but the sinners. He came for the broken. And brothers and sisters, without Him we are just that, broken.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, and his sacrifice, so that we may have eternal life. Lord, we fall short of perfection ever single day, but you still love us. May we never forget your sacrifice, and may everything we do seek to glorify You better. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
