19MAR24

35 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:35-38 (ESV)
Verse 36 really stands out to me here. “he had compassion for them, because they were harasses and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
It is very easy to judge those who are walking in a lifestyle of sin, but we must remind ourselves that their lifestyle, is a reflection of their heart. They are lost, the same as we were lost, and they are in need of the Good Shepherd.
We are called to be laborers. To show love and compassion, and to be sent out into his harvest.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we are your laborers. We stand in the midst of a broken and hurting world, full of people that need the love of our Savior. Give us the strength to go into the harvest, leading with compassion and love, to spread the good news. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
