18MAR24

23 And when he got into the boat his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves, but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” The he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and sea obey him?” Matthew 8:23-27 (ESV)
How many times have we felt like the disciples in the boat?
How many times have we felt like the storms of life were rising up and we couldn’t make it through?
We should be encouraged by the scripture above to hear that “even the winds and sea” obey our God. Our God is an all powerful God that enables the wind to blow and the sun to rise each and every morning. He is the Creator, and the great sustainer. He is where our eyes should be fixed when the storms of life come.
As Psalm 46 verse one says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being an all powerful God. Lord, we know that you will not bring us to a storm that we cannot handle. Give us the strength and the faith to rely solely on You, for You are more than enough. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
