“24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mind and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods, came, and the winds blew and beat against the house and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV)

What are rooted in? What is the foundation of our lives that everything else builds upon?

Are we putting putting our faith in the things of this world, or are we putting our faith in the solid, never changing word of our Savior?

It is not a matter of if the storms of life come, but when the storms of life come. And maybe you are going through a stormy season now, where the rain is falling, the flood waters are rising and the wind will not let up. What is your foundation? What do you turn to when life seems to be out of your control?

People waiver, times change, and society changes, but the Word of our God never falters or changes. Let us not be like the fool whom has heard these words but chose to build our foundation on the sand of the world.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you are the foundation of my life and my identity is in You. Thank you for giving me peace that can only come from You, so that when the storms of life come, I am patient in tribulation. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
