“ 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.” John 10:9-11 (ESV)

Nowadays there is plenty of evidence that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. We see this in the content of music and movies that praise the sexualization of women. We see this in the implementation of legislation that lacks a moral compass and focuses on preying upon young children. We see this on social media and news media which is predicated on dividing everyone and fostering a feeling of hate. As a society and world we are seeing the negative effects of turning our back on God, and we are seeing the work of Satan.

But we have hope for “The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep”. And it is through His sacrificial love that we can be forgiven and be given everlasting life. We must continually fix our gaze upon Jesus and not upon the empty desires of the world.

Prayer: Lord, continue to develop in me a heart that seeks out Jesus and the truth he provides. Please continue to give me the strength to resist the desires of this world and to unapologetically be an ambassador for Your name. Lord may I never forget that a life with You is of abundance, and all I ever need. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
