The first day of the D23 Expo, the premiere convention for all things Disney, did not disappoint. Here is a short rundown of my favorite things released on day one.
Lady & the Tramp
The day’s festivities included the first trailer for the remake of Disney’s classic Lady & the Tramp. I was never super attached to this movie as a child, but the remake looks promising and the revamped version of “Bella Notte” sounds beautiful already. I also happen to think the fact that the lead dogs were rescues is so perfect for this film.
This original series in the world of Star Wars seems to push things in this franchise back on the right track. Jon Favreau has the reigns of show runner. The show stars Pedro Pascal, Nick Nolte, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, and Taira Waititi.
The Mandalorian will be launched on November 12, the same day that the entire Disney+ service begins.
Underrated Marvel Characters Get Series
Six words: Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight. Three underrated heroes in the world of Marvel are officially on the slate for their own Disney+ shows. I’m excited to see these characters onscreen for the first time in live action (in this century). Let’s hope they’re true to the comics and each one flourishes under the leadership of Kevin Feige.
LIZZIE McGUIRE IS BACK
HEY NOW! HEY NOW! THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF. Is there any other reaction that is more appropriate than pure excitement when hearing this news? Hilary Duff will return in the lead role and here’s to hoping that some of the other original cast members will too.
