Sharing (Songs) Is Caring, Part I

Sharing songs that I like has always been one of my favorite things. What someone listens to can really tell you a lot about them. Music can speak louder than words a lot of the time, so I thought I would share a couple songs that I’ve been obsessed with in this new year! I hope you enjoy these songs, what they mean to me, and share some of your own!

No Friend by Paramore

It has taken me a long time to understand No Friend. I went from not liking it to discovering the lyrics to finally realizing how well it works as more of a complicated outro to the song Idle Worship. The spoken word tune is littered with old Paramore references and based on seeing videos of its live debut, I can’t help but think it looks like an oddly religious experience to feel in person.

God Save Our Young Blood by BORNS & Lana Del Rey

This song is one of two that I instantly loved upon the first listen. BORNS has been on my radar since hearing Electric Love (sadly, his only song I know as of right now besides this one), but Lana Del Rey has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. This pair teamed up to create a euphoric song with unique lyrics.

French Class by HalfNoise

Okay, so I have been listening to a lot of HalfNoise lately. Zac Farro of Paramore does well as the lead singer of this group and brings the signature ethereal sound that HalfNoise seems to make new. I love it. I absolutely love it.

My My My! by Troye Sivan

I’ve been waiting for almost three years for new music from one of my favorite artists, Troye Sivan. After debuting in 2015 with Blue Neighborhood, Troye makes his musical comeback with a steamy hit that is ready to top the charts as soon as it hits top 40 radio.

Out Like a Light by Ricky Montgomery & the Honeysticks

THIS SONG. I’m so glad I stumbled across it on YouTube. It has a beautiful, dreamy sound fused with lyrics that remind you of a tragic break up song. It’s beautiful song that will be stuck in your head from the moment that the melody begins.

Thank you for sticking around to see what I’m really into these days. I hope I can try to do this on a monthly basis. I don’t believe that my taste in music is anything special, but I love to listen to new things and discover new artists, songs, and sounds as often as I can!
