Sony’s ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ looks bold

Today, I woke up to the news that my number one, favorite superhero was getting yet another movie next year. Spider-Man is set to return to the big screen in 2018, but unlike this year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is owned by Marvel, this movie will be produced through Sony Animation.

Sony’s history with Spider-Man is spotty, but this film looks genuinely good and different. I believe it’s going to explore the different guys (and girls) who have stepped into Spidey’s shoes over the course of his 55 year existence. I can only hope that this movie delivers like Marvel did with Spider-Man: Homecoming, but this trailer that dropped today makes me hopeful, especially with the lead of the film being Miles Morales, who debuted as the first African-American Spider-Man in 2011.

The trailer looks so interesting. I love the shots of Miles with his Jordans and hoodie on as he hangs onto the side of a New York skyscraper. The colors used in the trailer are bold and bright and the song choice is perfect. The animation already looks excellent and with people like Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (both of The Lego Movie) involved, we can only dream of how great the story could be.

Leave your thoughts on how you think this new entry into the world of Spider-Man will hold up! I’m definitely looking forward to it.
